Campaign update 29.4.26

Local Elections 2026

As we enter the final days of the election I wanted to give an update on my campaign.

I have signed the Fare Free GM pledge which in their own words is about “Fare Free Greater Manchester is campaigning for fare-free travel for everyone in Greater Manchester. We support steps in that direction which defend and extend jobs and services, whether that is an expansion of fare-free services, wider eligibility for fare-free travel, or workers demanding travel passes from their employer. We want to see improved and expanded public transport services.”

I have also signed the Ad Free Communities pledge which aims to curtail harmful advertising practises. Advertising is in dire need of much stricter regulation.

And of course as mentioned in a previous article I have signed the candidate pledge for Palestine. Genocide must be opposed and Palestine must be free!

We have been diligently delivering our 2nd leaflet.

I tried canvassing for the first time recently as well. It was great to meet and speak with some of the residents of the ward, especially to hear their thoughts and concerns. We got a good reception on the doorstep. A fair few people were willing to talk and engage. There were also a few who weren’t interested in talking about the local elections at all, but that isn’t surprising many people feel disenfranchised from local democracy.

We will be continuing to leaflet between now and the day before the election. Weekdays between 10 am and 3 pm with a break in the middle.

We will be holding a street stall on Davenport High Street this Saturday 12.30 pm – 2 pm. Do come along and say hello.

We will be canvasing again on Sunday between 11 am and 1 pm. If you spot us out and about feel free to stop us and have a chat.

If you wan to support with any of these actions let us know at stockportyourparty@gmail.com
